Baltimore State Center Wins New Urbanism Excellence Award

Baltimore State Center Wins New Urbanism Excellence Award

This year the Congress for the New Urbanism has awarded the State Center in Downtown Baltimore with an Excellence in Urbanism Charter Award.  Each year, CNU’s Charter Awards recognize projects across the world that best embody and advance the principles of the Charter of the New Urbanism. As selected by a jury of leading urbanists, honorees set the gold standard for urban design and development and serve as powerful examples for future development.

The Baltimore State Center complex is the largest concentration of State government offices in Maryland.  Located in midtown Baltimore City, State Center comprises approximately twenty-eight acres around the State Center/Cultural Center Metro Station and across from the Cultural Center Light Rail Station. CNU cites the continued renovation of the 1960 auto centric State Center into a development with a culture of sustainability illustrating important urban design as the reason for the award.  For more information, CLICK HERE.

Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) is a national no-profit group promoting walkable, mixed-use neighborhood development, sustainable communities and healthier living conditions.
