The Baltimore City Health Department has listed another Code Red heat alert for Monday, June 28th:

June 27, 2010. Because of predicted high temperatures and potential danger according to the Baltimore Heat Watch Warning System, Interim Health Commissioner Olivia D. Farrow is declaring Monday, June 28th a Code Red Heat Alert day.

Here are some tips from Clean Air Partners for what you should do on a Code Red day to reduce your environmental impact:

  • Postpone mowing and trimming or use electric garden equipment.
  • Postpone painting or use water-based paint instead of oil-based paint.
  • Turn off lights and appliances when not in use.
  • Keep driving to a minimum.
  • Fill up your gas tank during evening hours. Avoid spilling gas and “topping off” the tank. Replace gas tank cap tightly.
  • Carpool or use public transportation when possible.
  • Avoid long drive-through lines; instead, park your car and go in.
