Can a Single Village Impact Global Warming?

Well, if that village is America’s 9th smallest state (that’s us Maryland), it might.  WYPR’s Joel McCord discussed a new report today out by Greenpeace that states Maryland emitted more greenhouse gases than 150 countries, including Denmark, Sweden and Hungary. We are not the worst (Texas is America’s biggest polluter and Vermont is the smallest, according to the report), but the news is shocking nonetheless.

Opponents to government bills addressing global warming have argued that other large countries, such as China, are going to have to hop on the green bandwagon for real change to occur, but this report suggests otherwise.  GreenPeace says, “Historically, no nation has emitted more global warming pollution than the United States.”
